We had a bit of rain last night, so this morning we get a new beach! Be sure to visit our websites for more town information.
You should be here! Summer is a great time to visit Puerto Morelos. As you can see, the water is crystal clear and you have the beach all to yourself. Plus rental rates are cheaper in the summer. As you can see here at Casa de los Viajeros.
If you’re a scuba diver or like to snorkel, it is an amazing time for this. Hope to see you soon!
Great morning in Puerto Morelos! A group of folks, many from the local big hotels, are cleaning the beach alongside our new municipal tractor.
The result; a pristine beach with plenty of space for swimmers, sun worshipers or even cyclists. (Click the photos for a full screen look)

Continuing the walkabout, this is the new building on the corner at the entrance to town. Looks like a fairly fancy shop with a restaurant or cafe beside it. Outside the shop, they have made another Puerto Morelos sign out of concrete.
Another Puerto Morelos sign. You will never forget the name of the town again. I assume the old tire is not part of the project.
Hurricane Earl struck Belize overnight, about 400 kms south of us in Puerto Morelos. We got some wind for sure and some surge, but almost no rain. Here in PM, it is cloudy, but a morning like any other. The town is quiet, but I met several folks walking, a family having a morning swim and even the beach cleaner!
Continuing the walkabout, new palapas at one of the beach clubs, and the new Puerto Morelos sign on the malecon. These colourful signs have popped up all over the peninsula in the past year from Cancun to Campeche to Chetumal.
Continuing our early morning walkabout, here are a couple of new places on the beach. Bianco is an Italian restaurant on the beach beside Merkadito, it just opened. Looks lovely!
The other place (used to be La Casa del Farito) is being renovated and will be a new restaurant. You will not go hungry in Puerto Morelos!
Took a bit of a walkabout Puerto Morelos this morning and saw some of the sights, new and old. I’ll publish the photos over the next few days. If you are stuck up north, come take a walk with us!
We’ll start with the beach at the end of our street. If you like your beach clean, pristine and quiet…we’ve got room for you!
