While taking a short ride in the Colonia yesterday, I discovered a street that SHOULD be renamed, Calle Café. Why you ask? Well, there are no less than 4 cafés in a very short distance.
The road is actually named Calle 45 and it links Av Zetina Gasca and Timon, the two main roads in the Colonia.
First in line at the intersection of Timon and Calle 45, is El Manglar, which has lots of coffee choices plus full breakfasts, lunches and salads.
A short walk east you will find “Date el Gusto“. They have coffee, juices, and lots of healthy options.
Just down a couple of spots, you will find “Cecila Bakes“. She has coffee naturally, but her specialty is cakes. Really good-looking, tempting cakes. Also cinnamon rolls.
A little further down the road, almost to Zetina Gasca, you will find Revolucion Cafe. They have coffee and full breakfasts.
So there you have four places to try, and you have only sauntered down one street!
If you walk down other streets in the Colonia, you will find more cafe choices, including one of my favourites, Eneida Café.
The beach side of Puerto Morelos has even more choices, like the venerable Cafe De Amancia on the square and Lola y Moya, just south of the Chedraui grocery store.
You will not have to walk for a cup o’ java in Puerto Morelos!

One of PM’s less attractive sights has been improved greatly by a little paint and some skilled artists.
This is the underpass at the highway in Puerto Morelos, it now looks a little like an aquarium! Nice work!
Hopefully, the soothing images will enable drivers to relax a little when navigating this busy intersection.

A big opening in Puerto Morelos this week! (July 2022)
Welcome to El Nicho Bakery and Pastry Shop, brought to you by the good folks at El Nicho, one of PM’s favourite breakfast and Brunch spots.
Here you will find the freshest baked breads and pastries, made right here in Puerto Morelos. Vegan and gluten-free options are available too. You can also order specialty items, all made with that El Nicho attention to quality and taste.
This opening this week is only the first step in what will eventually become the New El Nicho. Astrid and Manny have a whole lot of grand plans for the rest of the space, which will be revealed in the fall. For now, both El Nicho locations are open every day, 7:30 am until 2:00 pm.
